The Conference:

The Northeast Juvenile Firesetting Conference strives to address topics relevant to our multi-disciplinary attendees and provides workshops that reflect current best practice in firesetting assessment and treatment. Based on last year's feedback, the 2012 theme focuses on the critical importance of providing, "from incident to outcome, " a range of services and interventions to families in order to strengthen their capacities to keep children safe. The conference will again bring together over 250 fire service, education, mental health, state agency/child protective service, burn care, law enforcement and juvenile justice professionals from the Northeast and across the U.S.

Proposal Specifications:

Speakers will present workshops in two hour sessions which are interactive, provide take-home strategies and best practice information, and are tied to the theme: Strengthening our Homes: From Incident to Outcome. The conference committee is especially interested in proposals on assessment, treatment, education, and intervention programs that are family-friendly, provide services in the home, and/or are designed to strengthen parent capacities to provide a fire-safe environment. Proposals that address the following issues are highly desired:

  • Parent Skills Training
  • Parent Fire Safety Education
  • Risk Assessment
  • Family Fire Safety
  • Family Therapy
  • Outcome Data
  • CBT in the Home
  • Burn Safety Education
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Successful Fire Schools
  • Results Based Accountability
  • Parent Empowerment

Please CLICK HERE submit your presentation proposal with the following information by December 15, 2011.

  1. A Title: catchy titles are encouraged
  2. A Descriptive/Creative Title & Session Abstract: 240-300 word description/outline of the workshop which may be used for marketing and as workshop description in attendee registration information. Include three (3) measurable learning objectives for CEU /OEMS purposes.
  3. A/V or other onsite needs
  4. List of Presenters: Include name, affiliation, bio, and CV / resume for each presenter.

Presenters are offered complementary transportation to/from Boston Logan Airport, overnight accommodations, conference registration, an invitation to the Speakers' Dinner, various networking opportunities, and a forum to reach 260+ professionals from more than 12 states and 2 countries.
